A massive data leak of 16 billion records from 30 datasets—including Apple, Google, and Facebook—has been reported in the past few days. Researchers say the data is fresh and credentials are currently active. While this primarily affects personal accounts, company credentials could be included particularly where passwords are reused. See Yahoo Article.

What You Should Do:

  • Update passwords for major accounts. Use strong passphrases (e.g., two+ words, symbols, numbers, mixed case).
  • Enable MFA wherever possible.
  • Ensure company passwords are unique. If you’ve reused or slightly modified personal passwords, change them.
  • Watch for unexpected MFA prompts—they mean your password was correctly entered. If you didn’t initiate it, report it immediately to your IT department.
