SuraLinkBMSS Advisors & CPAs is proud to announce the promotion of Laura Hanks, CPA; Wendy Lacey, CPA; Maura McDevitt, CPA, MBA, CNAP, CGMA; and Trae Zablan, CPA, CGMA, CM&AA to Member.
Laura joined the firm in 2019 after working in the accounting profession for 14 years. As a senior manager in our Huntsville office, Laura focuses on tax services for both individuals and businesses.
An Auburn graduate, Laura has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA), and is an Auburn Accounting Advisory Board Member. Beyond the workplace, Laura is passionate about traveling and baking and resides in Madison with her husband.
Maura has a wealth of experience, with over 25 years of combined public and corporate accounting, and joined BMSS with the Haddox Reid team in December of 2023. Working from our Ridgeland office, she manages assurance and related services for a wide range of privately held entities in construction, restaurant and distribution, and nonprofit entities and provides consulting services on various financial matters.
Over the years, Maura has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations and is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA), Associated Builders and Contractors of Mississippi, and the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits.
Wendy joined the firm in 2023 and brought with her over 30 years of public accounting experience, 11 of which she served as a partner at another Alabama-based firm. Her primary focus is on State and Local Tax (SALT) and tax planning strategies for large, multi-state businesses. Wendy is known for providing her clients with an excellent client experience.
A Mississippi State University alumnus, Wendy is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA), and is a Mississippi State University Adkerson School of Accountancy Advisory Council Member. Wendy resides in Birmingham with her husband and their three children.
Trae joined BMSS in 2017. His primary focus is leading the financial statement due diligence practice, which focuses on both buy-side and sell-side quality of earnings engagements and advising clients throughout the transaction process.
Described as hard-working and dedicated, Trae was drawn to the accounting profession because it offered him a way to make a positive impact in clients’ lives, starting with their business or personal finances. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA), and the Birmingham Venture Club. Trae and his wife live in downtown Birmingham, where they enjoy running together and checking out local restaurants.
