Mason MurphyCPA, CCIFP

Mason joined BMSS in 2014 as a runner and has built his career here from the ground up, now serving as a Senior Manager in the Riverchase office. He works primarily with clients in construction, manufacturing and distribution, and closely held businesses, serving as a trusted advisor across audit and assurance, tax compliance, tax planning, and advisory services. Mason is a CPA and also holds the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation, bringing a level of industry depth that goes well beyond the numbers.

Mason approaches every engagement as a long-term relationship, not a transaction. His goal is to understand a client’s business well enough to anticipate problems before they surface and add value that goes beyond compliance. That mindset was shaped early, as Mason was drawn to the profession by watching his father, Don Murphy, one of BMSS’ founding members, build lasting trust with clients over decades. Recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as a NextGen in Money honoree, Mason has earned a reputation as an advisor who invests in his clients’ success for the long haul. He also incorporates emerging technology, including AI-assisted analysis, into how he serves clients, helping them get more out of their financial data.

Mason lives in Alabaster with his wife, Sydney, and their three children, who are hands down his favorite team to be on and keep him laughing and on his toes. He spends his free time golfing and hunting, usually coming home with better stories than results.
