Joanna TeterCPA

Joanna Teter is a Senior Manager in BMSS’s Huntsville office and joined the firm in 2020. Prior to joining BMSS, Joanna spent nearly ten years at EY specializing in the financial services industry, where she worked with banks and insurance companies and prepared large, multi-state consolidated returns. She later worked in the tax department at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, focusing on corporate tax compliance and return preparation.

Joanna provides tax compliance and planning services for business clients across a range of industries, including financial institutions, credit unions, consumer business,  and manufacturing and distribution. Her technical depth and detail-oriented approach are particularly evident in her credit union tax work, which includes the specialized filing requirements of the industry, including Form 990, Form 990-T, and Alabama Form ET-1. She also has extensive experience with C corporations, consolidated returns, and multi-state compliance.

Joanna was born in Illinois but spent most of her life in Birmingham before moving to Huntsville in 2018. She and her husband, Kurtis, have three sons. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, outdoor activities such as walking and hiking, and cheering on her sons at their football games and wrestling matches.
