Steve Platau

Steve Platau is the firm’s scholar in residence and advises BMSS leadership on assurance, tax and risk management issues that can be used for the benefit of current and future BMSS clients.

Steve has been an esteemed professor of accounting for The University of Tampa since 1984 and is a nationally recognized speaker and risk management resource who travels the country providing continuing professional education (CPE) classes.

Within the field of law, he specializes in professional liability/malpractice of accountants and attorneys; arbitration and mediation ADR for commercial and professional disputes; and the formation, organization and taxation of business enterprises. He is currently a member of the Florida Board of Accountancy, the NASBA Ethics Committee, and the American Arbitration Association Large & Complex Case Panel.

Steve previously served with the Board of Governors for the Florida Institute of CPAs from 1994 to 2002 and has also served with the State Legislative Committee, the Florida Institute of CPAs and the Dale Mabry Elementary PTA.
