Don MurphyCPA, CGMA

Don Murphy, CPA, CGMA, is a Founding Member and the Chief Executive Officer of BMSS. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, he provides audit and accounting, tax planning, and consulting services to closely held businesses, with particular experience in the construction, manufacturing and distribution, and transportation industries.

As CEO, Don is responsible for the firm’s overall vision, strategic direction, and continued growth. He works closely with BMSS leaders to coordinate the firm’s operations, develop its people, and identify new ways to serve clients and strengthen relationships.

Don chose accounting because he wanted a profession that would prepare him to become a business owner while allowing him to help people and their businesses grow. He co-founded BMSS with the goal of building a different kind of accounting and advisory firm, one grounded in strong relationships, innovative thinking, and a commitment to finding a better way to serve clients. The vision he shared with his fellow founders has continued to shape the firm’s culture and growth.

Don lives in Columbiana with his wife, Sandy. He serves as an elder at Briarwood Presbyterian Church and has also served on numerous committees for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
