BMSS Named Best Place to Work by Accounting Today

BMSS is pleased to announce their award for one of the “Best Accounting Firms to Work For” by Accounting Today. This is the eighth time the firm has been named to this prestigious list.

“We are honored to be recognized on this list yet again. When Don Murphy, Keith Barfield and I started this firm in 1991, our goal was to provide an environment that promoted a life-work balance for our employees without compromising an exceptional experience for our clients.” said John Shank, CPA, CGMA and Founding Member of BMSS. “We pride ourselves on gaining and retaining the top talent in the Birmingham area and our 97% staff retention rate is proof of that.”

Firms were required to meet the following criteria in order to be considered for this annual list:

• Must be a public accounting firm in the United States,
• Have a minimum of 15 employees in the United States, and
• Must be in business a minimum of one year.

Accounting Today invited firms from across the country to participate in this two-part survey. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated firm’s workplace policies, practices, systems, philosophy and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure their overall experience. The employee survey accounted for 75% of the total evaluation.
