Keith Barfield has five children - Heather, Mitchell, Sacca, William, and Jillian. He is a founding member at Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith and has lead responsibility for the firm's information systems.
Keith assists his clients by providing solutions for accounting issues including restructuring company debt, bank and bonding relationships and negotiations, operational and organizational restructuring, strategic planning, acquisitions, dispositions, family transitions, business value enhancement, technology utilization and turnaround assistance. His clients range from architects, construction companies, franchises, manufacturing & distribution businesses, and those in the technology and service industries.
Keith has the designation of Certified Information Technology Professionals (CITP) from the AICPA that attests to a CPA’s understanding of risk assessment, fraud, internal controls and IT general controls, information management and business intelligence. He recently launched a blog, "Barfield on Tech" that speaks directly to start-ups and businesses in the technology industry.
He is a board member and accounting advisor of the American Subcontractors Association of Alabama and serves on the boards of the Riverchase Business Association, Foundation Capital and the Innovation Depot. Keith is Vice Chair of Finance & Administration for the Greater Shelby Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Alliance Partners' Advisory Council of the BDO Seidman Alliance.
Keith was featured in the business advice book CEO Speaks - Sage Advice During Turbulent Times and has received national recognition for his Route 66 road trip in a 1966 CNG Pontiac GTO. He often speaks to groups about business consulting, financial statements, organizational planning, and IT topics.
