BMSS Announces Employee Promotions

Birmingham, AL – BMSS is proud to announce recent promotions within its accounting firm. Ashley Caldwell, CPA; Kristi Cerice, CPA; Melanie Shores, CPA and Mark Underhill, CPA have all been promoted to senior manager.

Caldwell has 10 years of experience in public accounting, specializing in employee benefit plan audits as well as serving clients in the nonprofit and governmental industries. She is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and The National Association of Church Business Administration.

Cerice has over 20 years of experience in every facet of accounting and managing. She is responsible for preparing and reviewing business, estate, trust, and individual income tax returns, supervising staff, handling IRS tax notices on behalf of clients, and providing estate planning services. She is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Samford University Alumni Association.

Shores has 13 years of experience and focuses on multi-state tax preparation, nonprofit compliance, international compliance, and individual tax planning. She is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and First Baptist Church of Trussville.

Underhill has nine years of experience and specializes in tax planning, consulting, and compliance for real estate, film and entertainment, technology and other professional services businesses. Outside of his client responsibilities, Underhill is the lead recruiter and interviewer for the firm at the University of Alabama. He is a member of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the University of Alabama’s Accounting Alumni Young Professionals Board where he currently serves as treasurer.

Promoted to manager were Brad Brown, CPA; AJ VanderWoude, CPA; Spencer Wise, Trae Zablan, CPA, CGMA; and Tyler Crawford, CPA.

Hannah Avery, CPA; Jake Bechert, CPA; and Rob Lilly, CPA were promoted to supervisor

Additionally, Emily Riles, CPA; Austin Gray, Amber Lockwood, Hannah Piper, Tyler Roberts, Lauren Hayles, CPA; and Austin Messer were promoted to Senior Accountant and Jacob Bradshaw, Stephanie Jensen, Zak Kimes, and Sylvia Turner, were promoted to Staff Accountant B.
